Mercy (Psalm 25:6-7)-9/28/2024

Psalm 25:6-7 (KJV) reads, "Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindness; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy, remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord." Thinking back on my past I see nothing but God's mercy. The minute I open my eyes every morning I give The Lord all the praise, glory, and honor. His mercies cannot be weighed or measured. Not an inch of perfection delves inside of me, but I am thankful that I am not who I used to be.

My testimony has been a topic that has not been discussed. Here it is. Before I gave my life to Christ, I was a young man who was insecure, manipulative, and a fornicator. Never being shown or given love I didn't know how to love. Achievements and accolades were all that I yearned for. On the outside I was an honor roll student but, on the inside, I was trapped and in need of identity. All of this was the ignorance of my youth.

We all have had ignorance of our youth. The ignorance may have sprung from abuse. The ignorance may have sprung from abandonment. The ignorance may have sprung from trauma. The ignorance may have sprung from improper influences. Left unaddressed these forms of ignorance take hold of our lives. In submission giving these forms of ignorance to the cross cleanses us from our past sins making us children in the eyes of God.

I pray for the teenagers of this hour. The prince of darkness is busy. It's as if the coping mechanisms are openly available (lean, pills, condoms, etc.). Young men think that being a man to be overly aggressive. Young lady's think that the only way to make a young man chase them is to show off their bodies. Our youth's moral compass is upside down. Parents of this hour must take their sons and daughters and pray over them before they go to school or go out with their friends. I know this is a cliché, but the children are our future and those of us that are old enough must set an example for what is right before God.

The Word of God is the glue that holds everything together. Every time I open my Bible, and my eyes touch the words in black and red ink my soul is purged. Purged from lust. Purged from bitterness. Purged from pride. Purged from gossip. The Word of God is a sword that pierces our hearts.

God's mercies should never be taken for granted. Mercy is what wakes us up every morning. Mercy is what keeps us in our right minds. Mercy is what helps our body's function. His mercy is what keeps us protected. His mercy is what gives us provision. It is through His mercy as to why we give Him all the glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
